Ann Arbor firefighters rescued a resident from a fire that may have started in a furnace room of the Briarcrest condominiums at 275 Briarcrest on Sunday.
No one was hurt, but the 6 p.m. fire spread into three apartments, causing extensive damage to all three, and smoke damage to adjoining units, according to Battalion Chief Robert Vogel.
Damage was estimated at around $100,000. The cause is not yet determined, but the focus is on a first-floor furnace room, Vogel said.
The complex is located off Oakbrook Drive and South Main Street near Briarwood mall.
Firefighters from Pittsfield, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor Township and Scio Township were called to assist. The Washtenaw County chapter of The American Red Cross assisted displaced tenants
