Nine ducklings were returned to their yowling mother in Ann Arbor Thursday thanks to the fire department.
Fire crews were called to the intersection of Washtenaw Avenue and Manchester Road in Ann Arbor around 1 p.m. for reports of baby ducks stuck in a storm drain, according to Battalion Chief Robert Vogel.
"Firefighters arrived and found nine ducklings had fallen into the storm drain and the mother (standing by) being very vocal," Vogel said.
The firefighters were able to save the ducklings by inserting water into one drain and catching them at the next drain as the water rose, according to Vogel.
The ducklings were returned to their mother uninjured.
